Catacaos is a small town traditionally known for its filigree, straw hats, and traditional crafts. It is going through difficult times since it is a town that lives on tourism and its sale of handicrafts.
The furthest cities are the most affected by COVID-19. I was able to get in touch with a great Peruvian master artisan from Catacaos Mr. Victor Yarleque. I was trying to know how the situation was in small towns, how were they affected? and he told me that all commercial activities were not happening. Without tourism and markets closed; it was very difficult to survive. The new virtual kinf or market scene or e-commerce is something considered but still very nascent.
Relying on the work of the master Victor and the different collections he has created. We invite him to participate in the Peru Gift Shop with his brand “Yares Jewelry.”
I selected exclusive pieces for our shop “PerĆŗ Gift Shop,” and have collaborated with Mr. Victor creating new designs following the latest trends.
Thanks to our collaboration, we have achieved a collection dedicated to my dearest PerĆŗ. A group of pieces handmade with love, where Peruvians who live far away will feel proud to wear them. By buying one, two, and three pieces creates job opportunities in the northern of PerĆŗ.
Here I present you a sample of the pieces created exclusively for Peru Gift Shop in collaboration with Evelyn Brooks Designs. A collection where our traditional filigree is mixed with the traditional Peruvian huayruro good luck seeds creating one of a kind pieces.
This is the beginning of strategic partnerships with Peruvian artisans and entrepreneurs who will continue to grow and achieve their internationalization through projects such as the PerĆŗ Gift Shop, endorsed by the Houston Commercial Office & PromPerĆŗ.

Catacaos un pueblo pequeƱo tradicionalmente conocido por su filigrana, sus sombreros de paja y su artesanĆa tradicional. Atraviesa momento difĆciles ya que es un pueblo que vive del turismo y su venta de artesanĆas.

Yo queria saber como estaba la situaciĆ³n y me comento que todo estaba paralizado. El comercio paralizado, los mercados obviamente estan cerrados. Y el tema virtual o el e-commerce es algo contemplado pero aun muy incipiente.

Gracias a nuestra colaboraciĆ³n hemos logrado una colecciĆ³n dedicada a nuestro PerĆŗ. Una colecciĆ³n con mucho cariƱo donde todos sobre todos aquellos que estamos lejos vamos a querer llevar con mucho cariƱo, al mismo tiempo sabiendo que creamos oportunidad de mayor empleo en el norte del paĆs.
